More Medieval Demographics

The following snapshots of the occurrence of a few professions in Medieval Italian cities come from several books I found.

According to Robert Lopez in"Medieval Trade in the Mediterranean World:  Illustrative Documents", late 13th century Milan, a city with about 100,000 residents had:

One cathedral
94 chapels
6 monasteries
8 nunneries
120 lawyers
1,500 notaries
600 messengers
28 doctors
150 surgeons
8 grammar instructors
300 bakeries
440 butchers
80 smiths
150 inns
30 bell-makers

Note that most Italian cities seem to have had a huge number of notaries and lawyers.

I have lost the source for the following.
Mid 14th century Florence, a city that may have had as many as 100,000 residents at the time, had:
25,000 militia men (presumably a reserve of ordinary citizens who would be called out in time of war)
57 parish churches
5 abbeys
30 hospitals
200 weaver workshops (Florence was a center of the wool trade)
80 money-changers
60 doctors
100 spice dealers
146 bakeries
80 lawyers
